Under this scheme whole body screening is done for both male & female in the age group of 30 years. This scheme is conducted in all upgraded PHCs, 3 Government Hospitals and Mannargudi UPHC every week on Thursdays and Fridays.
JANANI SURAKSHA YOJANA (JSY)
The objective of this scheme is to motivate institutional deliveries in order to reduce Maternal & Infant mortality.
Amount given for institutional deliveries in urban areas – Rs.600
Amount given for institutional deliveries in rural areas – Rs.700
KANNOLI KAPPOM THITTAM (KKT)
Under this scheme eye screening is done and free spectacles are given to school going children from 6th to 12th standard.
SPECIALITY MEDICAL CAMPS
Every year Speciality Medical Camps are being conducted by the block PHCs an on average of 3 camps per block and patients would be screened and referred to the higher centers if necessary.
RASHTRIYA BAL SWASTHYA KARYAKRAM (RBSK)
In Thiruvarur District two school health teams per block (male & female teams) visits all the Government and Government aided schools and Anganwadi centers and screen the children for birth disorders and nutritional deficiencies.
BLOOD DONATION CAMPS
Every year blood donation camps are being conducted on an average of 2 camps per block and collected blood units will be given to the mother blood bank i.e., Thiruvarur Medical College Hospital.
MENSTRUAL HYGIENE PROGRAMME
This programme is for promotion of menstrual hygiene among adolescent girls in the rural years (10-19 years) by providing a regular supply of sanitary napkins.
WEEKLY IRON AND FOLIC ACID SUPPLEMENTATION
The objective of this programme is to reduce the prevalence and severity of anaemia in adolescent population (10-19 years). Under this programme iron and folic acid tablet will be administered to the school going adolescent girls and boys in 6th to 12th std enrolled in Govt / Govt aided schools and to out of school adolescent girls through the anganwadi centres.
NATIONAL DEWORMING DAY
The objective of this biannual programme is to deworm all pre-school and school age children between the ages of 1 to 19 years through schools and anganwadi centres in order to improve their overall health and nutritional status.
VITAMIN A – SUPPLEMENTATION PROGRAMME
Under this biannual programme, Vitamin A is administered to the children in the age group of 6 months to 60 months to prevent night blindness among children and to improve the nutritional status of the children.
