Leo – Bloody Sweet

LEO Review

A wonderfully-conceived and designed scene of a hyena rescue sets the mood for what’s about to come to Parthi, and his family.

“Leo,” an Indian adaptation of “A History of Violence,” follows a familiar formula but manages to provide a gratifying experience that may not be precisely as it seems. If you anticipate a dynamic, violent, and rhythmically charged action drama centered around a coffee shop proprietor defending his family from a suspicious drug dealer who insists he is a former ruthless gangster, you won’t be disappointed. Despite its formulaic elements, “Leo” offers the expected fare, especially for fans of Tamil-speaking star Vijay, as evident from the numerous opening day attendees.

It became the highest-grossing Tamil film overseas, the second highest-grossing Tamil film of all time, the sixth highest-grossing South Indian film of all time and the 16th highest-grossing Indian film of all time. Leo is the highest-grossing film in the franchise as of its release.

Netflix has reportedly acquired Leo for a whopping Rs 125 crore.

Leo is being hailed as one of the best films of Vijay’s career.
